@UAMVOLLEYBALL TAKEN DOWN BY REDDIES ON THE ROAD

Arkadelphia, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was defeated by the Reddies of HSU Tuesday evening on the road, by a final score of 3-1.

  • Final set scores from the match were 16-25, 10-25, 25-19 and 18-25 in favor of Henderson State. 
  • The Blossoms fall to 10-21 (2-13 GAC) in 2017. 
  • HSU improves to (13-15, 6-9 GAC) overall this season.

  • UAM opened the match with a small lead over the Reddies, but HSU quickly created multiple runs to jump out to a 19-12 lead over the Blossoms. 
  • Despite kills from Maggie Pyles, and Laurene Cushinberry, Henderson State took the opening set, 25-16.

  • HSU controlled the pace of the second set, generating a 10-2 run over UAM, leading 19-7 overall midway through. The Reddies ultimately sealed off the set at 25-10 over Arkansas-Monticello.

  • The Blossoms came out swinging in the third set of play, holding a 5-1 lead over HSU after taking advantage of multiple Henderson State errors, and a service ace from Pyles.
  • UAM held a slim lead throughout the contest, until capturing set three with five straight points to end it at 25-19, with Pyles providing two of those kills.

  • The Reddies regained the momentum however in the final set of this match, surging out to a 7-2 lead over UAM to begin play.
  • Arkansas-Monticello could not recover from the deficit despite several small runs in the set, and Henderson State went on to claim it at 25-18, and win the match at 3-1 overall.

  • Maggie Pyles led the offensive attack for UAM with 15 total kills, and two service aces. 
  • Macy Mitchell posted a team-high 30 digs in the match-up to anchor the defensive effort, and tallied two service aces also. 
  • Toryn Cox finished the contest with a match-high 37 assists, and contributed 14 digs as well.

  • Arkansas-Monticello will face the Bisons of Harding next on Thursday, November 9 inside Steelman Field House in what will be senior night, as the Blossoms play its final regular season match of 2017. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
