@WEEVILSBASEBALL NOTCH ROAD WIN OVER ARKANSAS TECH

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took down Arkansas Tech on the road Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up with the Weevils coming out on top, 5-2.

Arkansas-Monticello (15-10) got onto the board first in this contest against the Wonder Boys of ATU (16-11) in the top of the third inning after a Sean Wagner single up the middle brought in two runs to the Weevil advantage.

Despite allowing one run in the fourth, UAM answered back with a Brian Ray RBI single  to left, and Brady Weiss drew a bases loaded walk to increase the UAM lead out to 4-1.

ATU added a run in the bottom half of the inning but a ninth inning solo home-run from Weiss to right field was enough to secure the victory for the Weevils at 5-2 in Russellville.

Jared Libke started on the the mound for UAM throwing 4.0 innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and struck out three.

Michael Harrison was credited with his first win of the season throwing 1.0 inning after Libke, finishing with a strikeout as well.

Drake Streeter earned his first save of the year throwing 0.2 inning in the bottom of the ninth, allowing one walk, and striking out one batter also.

Senior Nick Piraino recorded a three hit day in the game as well going 3-for-5 with one run scored, and one stolen base.

UAM returns to the field this weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 24-25 as the Weevils will travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma to square off against Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game GAC series with first pitch in game one on Friday set for 2 p.m.
