@UAMSOFTBALL SPLITS DAY ONE AGAINST OUACHITA

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team split the day against GAC adversary Ouachita Baptist Friday afternoon on the road, with a win at 9-3, and loss at 5-3.

The win in game number one brought head coach Alvy Early's all-time collegiate win total up to 1,160 as he is closing in on the all-time wins record for a college coach in the state of Arkansas in all divisions and in all sports, with current record holder Norm DeBriyn at 1,161 total wins.

Game one for Arkansas-Monticello (26-12, 19-7 GAC) versus the Tigers of OBU (16-24, 10-18 GAC) saw the Blossoms on the board first with a Meagan Duchesne RBI single to right center field.

Kali Bolter later extended that UAM lead in the top of the fifth with a solo home-run, to give the Blossoms the 3-1 advantage.

After surrendering two runs in the bottom half of that inning, Arkansas-Monticello fueled itself ahead with a big sixth inning which included RBI singles from McKenzie Rice, Korie Parker, and Maranda Clendenin to put the lead at 8-3 in UAM's favor.

Kendra Coleman (W, 16-3) started in the circle for UAM, throwing a complete game, and recorded five total strikeouts.

The second contest of the day once again featured the Blossoms on the scoreboard first after a Clendenin solo home-run in the top of the first inning.

UAM went on to surrender five unanswered runs until the top of the sixth when Coleman sent a ball well beyond the wall for a two-run home-run to cut into the Ouachita lead, but unfortunately OBU claimed the game at 5-3.

Kaylee Freeman got the nod in game two as she pitched 4.0 total innings, and Alyson Finnigan, and Sara Squires each came on to throw in relief as well.

Arkansas-Monticello returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 8, to conclude its series with Ouachita with a doubleheader as game one is slated for 12 p.m.
