Magnolia, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was defeated twice Friday afternoon on day one of the Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational by Texas A&M-International, and by Mississippi College.

• Final game scores from the match were 15-25, 25-23, 25-12, 21-25, and 13-15 in favor of the Dustdevils.
• UAM drops to 4-5 (0-1 GAC) on the season.
• Texas A&M-International improves to 2-8 (0-0 Heartland) this year.

• TX AM-INTL took the match in five sets despite UAM leading in overall assists, blocks, hitting percentage, and kills. 
• Sophomore Maggie Pyles recorded a match-high 20 kills while hitting .283 overall, and totaled seven digs as well.  
• Kendall Vondra turned in a solid stat sheet, leading UAM in assists with 29, and in digs also with 18. 
• Freshman Toryn Cox added 18 assists to the offensive effort as well.

• Arkansas-Monticello falls to 4-6 (0-1 GAC) in 2017.
• Mississippi College improves to 5-4 (0-0 GSC) on the year.

• UAM recorded 11 total service aces in the match-up.
• Maggie Pyles once again led the Blossoms in total kills with 19 overall, and three service aces to her stat-line.
• Vanessa Pawlak totaled 14 kills, and Brittany Hamilton added 10 kills as well. 
• Toryn Cox Arkansas-Monticello in assists with 26 total. 
• Senior Macy Mitchell led the UAM defensive effort with a season-high 34 digs in the match.

• The Blossoms return to action next tomorrow, Saturday, September 16 on the final day of the invitational where UAM will take on Grambling State with first serve scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
