BETHANY, Okla. -- The Arkansas-Monticello volleyball team trailed two sets to zero Saturday afternoon at Southern Nazarene University, before rallying and sending the match to five sets but ultimately falling 15-11 in the decisive fifth set.
The Blossoms are now 2-22 and 0-9 in league play, and SNU moves to 13-12 and 5-4 in conference games.
After SNU took the first two sets 25-17 each, UAM battled to tie the match a two sets apiece. With their backs against the wall, the Blossoms took the first five points of the third set, setting the the tone to bring the match to a fourth set. The fourth set was tied at nine points, with UAM scored five-straight and 11-of-15 to take a 20-13 advantage. But SNU rallied to bring the set to within 21-20 before the Blossoms won on a MarKayla Dickie kill.
SNU won four of the first five points of the fifth set, but the Blossoms regained an 8-7 lead on another Dickie kill. At 9-9, SNU rallied off three-straight points to turn the tide finished the match on a 6-2 run.
Halli Lambert led the Blossoms with 16 kills, while Dickie ended with 13. Shayna Daniels had 28 assists, and Dickie had nine blocks on the day.
UAM returns home on Friday for four-straight matches, with Senior Night coming on Friday, Oct. 19.
