@WEEVILSBASEBALL NOTCHES WIN ON OPENING DAY

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team began the 2018 season with a win over Pittsburg State Friday afternoon at home, by a score of 8-7.

  • 2nd Inning: A Jordan Johnson sacrifice fly to left field brings home Borman to put the Weevils on the board as Pitt State led UAM 4-1. 
  • 4th Inning: Rios records his first home run of the season to center field, which also brought how Borman to cut into the Gorillas lead at 5-3.
  • 4th Inning: Weiss hits a sac fly to left field as well, scoring Johnson and pulling the Weevils within one run.
  • 6th Inning: Brady Weiss belts a three-run home run on the first pitch he sees giving Arkansas-Monticello the lead at 7-5 over PSU. 
  • 7th Inning: Brian Ray caps off the UAM scoring with a solo shot home run, which aided Dawson Moser in sealing the victory for the Weevils at 8-7.

  • UAM will face Pittsburg State in a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, February 3, beginning at 11 a.m. at Weevils Field, with game number two of the day to shortly follow the conclusion of game one.
