MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team took down rival Southern Arkansas Tuesday night at home, by a final score of 68-61.
 

• UAM improves to 16-10 (11-9 GAC) overall.
• Muleriders fall to 13-13 (9-1 GAC) on the season. 
   
• The Weevils with this victory officially clinch a spot in the 2018 Great American Conference Championship Tournament, and seeding will be determined upon the completion of the regular season. 
   

• Derylton Hill —  24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists
• Cobe Goosby — 19 points, 8 assists
• Tyrin Jones — 14 points, 6 rebounds
   

• The Weevils jumped out to a 16-4 lead over SAU to start this game with made layups from Hill, Jones, and Goosby. 
• This contest only saw one tie throughout its' entirety at 22-22 with just over four minutes left to go in the first half of play. 
• UAM quickly generated the momentum back into its' favor to head into halftime with a 30-25 advantage. 
   

• Arkansas-Monticello continued to apply the pressure to the Muleriders in the second half, holding a steady 45-38 lead midway through the period. 
• Hill continued to impress throughout the night, scoring 12 total points in the second half, shooting 6-for-9 from the floor overall. 
• Southern Arkansas was able to cut the home lead down to just three points on serval occasions late in this match-up, however the Weevils always had an answer, and took the conference game at 68-61 in the end.
• UAM overall as a team shot 45 percent from the field, going 26-for-58, and forced 17 total SAU turnovers, both stats which propelled the Weevils over Southern Arkansas. 
  
   

• The Weevils will next face Harding University in a GAC match-up this Thursday, February 22 on the road in Searcy, Arkansas with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
