MELISSA, Texas — The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team split the day with Southeastern Oklahoma State in Melissa, Texas Sunday afternoon.

• Final Score: Arkansas-Monticello 5 - Southeastern 3
• UAM picked up its first win of the season, 1-7 (1-0 GAC). 
• SOSU dropped to 6-8 (0-1 GAC) this year. 
   

• Aubree Head — 1-for-3, 2 RBI, 1 double
• Ashton Currey —  1-for-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
• Hayley McGhee — 1-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 run scored
   

• Abigail Leonards (W, 1-3)  —  7.0 IP,  1 strikeout, 1 walk, 3 earned runs. 
  
   

• 1st Inning: Currey led the game off with a solo shot to left field for the early 1-0 advantage.
• 5th Inning: Freeman was able to reach on an error by SOSU, which saw another UAM run cross the plate. 
• 5th Inning: McGhee singled to right field to bring home Clendenin to put the Blossoms up, 3-0.
• 5th Inning: Head capped the UAM scoring off with a two-run double to right to seal the 5-3 victory.

• SOSU improves to 7-8 (1-1 GAC) on the year.

• 3rd Inning:  Clendenin singled to left field to score Kali Bolter for the 1-0 lead over SOSU.
• 3rd Inning:  Freeman hit a three-run home run over the left field wall to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • SOSU was able to tie up the game in the 5th inning, and ultimately took the game by scoring a run in the 11th. 
     

• UAM will face Southeastern Oklahoma State in a double-header tomorrow, Monday, February 26 in Melissa, Texas in the series finale with game one set for 11:00 a.m.
