FORT SMITH, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team was defeated by the Lions of UAFS Tuesday evening, by a final score of 3-0 .

• Final set scores from the match were 18-25, 18-25, and 20-25 in favor of the Lions
• Arkansas-Monticello drops to 1-4 on the year. 
• Arkansas-Fort Smith jumps to 4-1 overall this season. 

• The Lions built a 16-8 lead late in this contest, and continued to add to that advantage, out to 21-10 in the opening set. 
• UAM fought back into the match-up with an 8-3 run with added kills from Megan Orth, Brittany Hamilton, and Dickie.
• Arkansas-Forth Smith sealed off set number one with a 25-18 win and an early match advantage.  

  

• Arkansas-Monticello gained an early 8-5 lead over the Lions after kills from Dickie, and Orth with added errors from UAFS. 
• An 8-1 run from Fort Smith propelled the Lions to a 14-9 advantage over UAM, and the Lions would seal of the set two victory at 25-18. 

• The home squad opened set number three with a 7-3 run, and continued to build that advantage to 12-6 overall. 
• A 6-0 run from UAM evened up the set at 13-13 with points scored from Laurene Cushinberry, Daniels, and Orth. 
• UAFS once again generated a run to jump ahead over UAM, and sealed set three off at 25-20 and took the match at 3-0. 
   

• MarKayla Dickie led the UAM offensive attack with 10 kills on the night, and added three block assists as well. 
• Shayna Daniels totaled 21 total assists, and recorded three services aces in the contest also.
• Jessica Mahan anchored the defensive side with 20 overall digs in the match-up. 
   

• Arkansas-Monticello will next compete in the 2018 Holiday Inn Classic in Cleveland, Tennessee where UAM will face Palm Beach Atlantic first at 12:15 p.m., and then Lee University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31.
