MONTICELLO, Ark. – Visiting Harding University took out the home-standing University of Arkansas-Monticello volleyball squad in three-straight games, handing the Cotton Blossoms their third straight conference loss.
The Blossoms started the opening frame strong, jumping out to a 6-2 lead in the early going. However, the Bison rallied from there, going on to win the opening stanza 25-19.
The Bison were in command from that point forward. Harding cruised to a 25-15 win in game two and put the match on ice with a 25-14 score in the third and final stanza.
Arkansas-Monticello was paced by Leslie Polanco's eight kills on the night. MarKayla Dickie added 7 kills and Halli Lambert chipped in with six. From the service line, Shayna Daniles led the squad with three aces.
The visiting Bison got 10 kills from Zoe Hardin to lead both teams.
The loss drops the Weevils to 1-14 on the year and 0-2 in Great American Conference play. Harding improves to 7-6 and a perfect 2-0 mark in league play.
Arkansas-Monticello is slated to hit the court again on Sept. 18 in a tri-match at Southern Arkansas.
