ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team fell in four sets at Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday. After dropping the first, the Blossoms won set two, but lost sets three and four to close out the match.
The Rangers won the opening set, but UAM battled in set two. After being down early, the Blossoms capitalized and held on for the set two victory, evening the match, 1-1.
However, NWOSU took over the third set winning it, 25-16, and in the fourth set the Blossoms gave them a battle, but ultimately lost, 25-22.
UAM was led by
Leslie Polanco and
Zealia Kleitz on the attack. The pair rallied for double-digit kill numbers with Polanco tallying 11 and Kleitz posting 10.
Katie Pearson added 37 assists to the cause along with a service ace.
On defense,
Jessica Mahan had 20 digs, while Polanco had 10 digs of her own.
At the net, UAM had a solid day tallying five blocking assists apiece from Kleitz,
MarKayla Dickie and
Taylor Calhoun.
With the loss, UAM drops to 5-13 overall and 2-5 in Great American Conference games.

UAM will travel to Batesville, Arkansas for the Lyon College Tri-Match Tournament on Monday. Its first matchup of the tournament will be against Tougaloo College at 5 p.m.
