UAM set for home-opener against Champion Christian College

The UAM men’s basketball team will begin its 2019-20 home schedule with a game against Champion Christian on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Steelman Field House in Monticello, Arkansas.

SCOUTING THE WEEVILS
UAM is 6-0 against Champion Christian in its history with its last win back in 2014-15 back when they were Champion Baptist college. The Weevils defeated the Tigers, 114-75.
 
In home-openers, the Weevils are 8-1 dating back to 2010-11 with that lone loss coming back in 2015-16.
 
The Weevils are coming off a 70-55 win against Southwest Minnesota State in Warrensburg, Missouri.
 
In that contest, UAM had five players in double-figures in points with KJ Lesure and Justin Slocum posting 14 points apiece. Denzel McDuffey also registered a double-double in that contest with 12 points and 10 boards.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Champion Christian College competes as a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association.
 
Offensively, they currently have four players averaging double-figures in scoring in Kentrell Jacobs (16.00), Cameron Dismuke (15.33), Stefan Tellis (14.33) and D'Andre Butler (12.33).
 
Jacobs and DeMarkiyo DeVoil lead the team in rebounds with 16 and 12, respectively.
 
The Tigers have moved the ball exceptionally well to start the season totaling 57 assists. Cory Griggs has 16 total assists leading the team.
