UAM falls on the road at #5 Ouachita Baptist, 35-7

The UAM football team fell to No. 5 Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at Cliff Harris Stadium in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, 35-7. The Weevils Alex Day tallied the team’s lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team fell to No. 5 Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday at Cliff Harris Stadium in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, 35-7. UAM's lone touchdown was scored by Alex Day in the fourth quarter.
 
The Tigers made it tough on the Weevils defensively with four rushing touchdowns in the contest in a game that was pretty quick, lasting just two hours and 25 minutes.
 
OBU scored in three of the four quarters including in the first. At 7:41, Brockton Brown punched one in from one yard out to conclude a 10-play 54-yard drive. The extra point was good, and the Tigers took a 7-0 lead.
 
Around three and half minutes into the second quarter, Brown plunged another rushing touchdown in. Once again, it was from one yard out. The TD concluded a 15-play 88-yard drive that ate eight minutes and 10 seconds off the game clock. The extra point was good and OBU went ahead, 14-0.
 
The Weevils then went three-and-out on the following drive and gave great field position to OBU following a 24-yard punt. Two plays later, Brown took a 33-yard rush into the endzone for the score. Gabe Goodman hit the PAT and made it a 21-0 advantage for the Tigers.
 
Both teams would remain stagnant for the next few drives until there was 3:40 left in the half. Ouachita began a drive at the Weevils 49-yard line and Brayden Brazeal hit Allie Freeman for a 42-yard pass to make it first and goal. Brown would then record in a six-yard rushing TD and OBU hit the extra point to go ahead, 28-0. They then took that lead into halftime.
 
After Ouachita added one more score, the Weevils trailed 35-0 heading into the fourth. UAM's lone touchdown was at the end of a nine-play 72-yard drive. Demilon Brown hooked up with C.J. Parham for a first down, and then hooked up with him again for another first 11-yard pass and a 13-yard pass. Brown later would find Ke'Dren Brunson for 14 yards and UAM continued to move the ball. Day put the highlight to the end of the drive with a 12-yard touchdown rush. Josh Marini hit the extra point and the Weevils trailed 35-7.
 
The two teams played the remainder of the game scoreless and the Tigers would go on to win, 35-7.
 
The Weevils totaled 164 yards on the ground. Logan Penn led the team with 62 yards, while Brown tallied 42. Day registered the team's lone touchdown and Chris Hargraves ran for 21 of the team's 164.
 
With the loss, UAM falls to 5-5 on the year while Ouachita improves to 10-0.

UAM will conclude its season next Saturday at 2 p.m. when it plays Southern Arkansas University in the Battle of the Timberlands.
