Women’s Golf Rounds Out Their Season at the GAC Conference Championship

WOMEN'S GOLF
by Jeff Whitson

The Women's Golf team finished their season at the Great American Conference Championship Tuesday, April 16th.
The girls finished 10th place and 1 stroke back from the next spot. Toryn Cox played the five-spot shooting 125, 137, 130. Maddie Mattocks shot 267 (89, 92, and 89) for her 3-round total. Skylar Mast fired 253 (87, 85, and 81). Belle Tan completed her tournament with a score of 248 (84, 79, and 85). Leah Rowe leads the charge once again with a score of 243 (77, 87, and 79) and would've shot three rounds in the 70s if it wasn't for a back injury during the second round. This team has been through a lot, battling through short numbers and injuries this season. Luckily for the Blossom's, they have no seniors with loads of talent coming back and being recruited.

Coach Buie realizes the potential and talent he has coming back next year plus some added members, "We will be adding more pieces to the team next year with three signed already including two internationals." Coach Buie is very much looking forward to what the Women's team can accomplish these upcoming seasons. "The team had no seniors this year and with continued improvement of the returning players and the influx of new faces, the team will be much stronger."

Be sure to keep an eye out for the Women's Golf Team next semester as they could be real competitors in the GAC.
