UAM Volleyball heading to Searcy for Harding University Tournament

The UAM Volleyball team will be heading to Searcy, Arkansas on Saturday for the Harding University Tournament. UAM will play against No. 17 Rockhurst at 9 a.m. and then finish the day with an 11 a.m. match against Missouri S&T.

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team will be heading to Searcy, Arkansas on Saturday for the Harding University Tournament. UAM will play against 17th ranked Rockhurst University at 9 a.m. and then finish the day with an 3 p.m. match against the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

UAM NOTES
Arkansas at Monticello split a pair of matches earlier this week, losing at Henderson State and then defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
The Weevils beat the Javelinas in straight sets. It was the first time UAM beat an opponent in straight sets since it defeated East Central 3-0 last season on October 13th.
 
UAM was the only team in the NCAA to have a hitting percentage of .300 or higher against Kingsville in a match thus far in 2019.
 
Leslie Polanco registered a triple-double in the match with 12 kills, 16 assists and 12 digs.
 
Offensively, Arkansas at Monticello has been paced by Leslie Polanco and MarKayla Dickie on the attack. Polanco is the team-leader in kills with 127 and Dickie has 110. The pair average 3.89 points per set and 3.68 points per set, respectively.
 
Katie Pearson has been aiding the offensive duo with a team-best 323 assists while averaging 8.28 per set.
 
Jessica Mahan and Polanco have dished out 22 assists and 21 assists, respectively.
 
Mahan has been the team's top server with 12 service aces this season.
 
On defense, UAM has four players with over 100 digs in Polanco (151), Mahan (113), Katelyn Richbourg (109) and Pearson (106).
 
At the net, three Weevils have registered more than 20.0 total blocks on the year in Taylor Calhoun (30.0), Dickie (17.0) and Zealia Kleitz (23.0).

Entering the day, Rockhurst is one of the top teams in the country according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll ranking 17th.
 
RU has cleaned-up opponents quickly this season playing just 27 sets.
 
As a team, the Hawks have a .246 hitting percentage and are led by Karli Reichert who leads the team in kills with 104.
 
Dani Prusha has aided on the attack recording 285 assists and posting an assist percentage of .486.
 
Jadyn Makovicka and Jessica Schlautman are the team's top defenders with 136 digs and 85, respectively.

Missouri S&T is off to its best start in program history with a record of 7-1.
 
UAM and the Miners have already met once this season at the Miner Invitational. S&T won that match in five sets, 3-2.
 
Offensively, Emilee Schlader is the top attacker with 112 and a kills per set average of 3.68.
 
Sarah McGinnis and Sarah Cavanaugh have been the distributors with 159 and 121 assists, respectively.
 
Corinne Stulce has 163 digs while Abigail Widiker (97) and Schlader (96) are just below 100 for the year.

UAM will get set for its first home match of the season when it battles Ouachita Baptist University at Steelman Fieldhouse on Tuesday, September 24th. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
