MONTCELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team fell in its home opener to Ouachita Baptist University at Steelman Fieldhouse in Monticello, Arkansas. The Tigers defeated the Blossoms, 3-1.

After falling in set one, UAM and the Tigers battled in set two. With the score tied at 24-24, the Blossoms recorded a big-time block and a huge kill to get the two consecutive points and the set victory.

Set three was back-and-forth as well, but the Tigers pulled away late to secure the win, 25-22.

In the fourth set, Ouachita stole the show winning, 25-16, and securing the three set to one victory.

However, OBU won the next two sets en route to the victory.

The Blossoms top attackers were
MarKayla Dickie and
Leslie Polanco, who each finished with 14 kills apiece.
Halli Lambert also chipped-in on the attack with eight kills.

Polanco and
Katelyn Richbourg helped aid on the attack with 20 assists and 16, respectively.
Â
Defensively,
Jessica Mahan added 35 digs to the cause while
Zealia Kleitz and Dickie recorded five blocks each.
Taylor Calhoun also added three blocks.

With the loss, UAM falls to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in Great American Conference play while OBU is 7-6 overall and 2-0 in league games.

UAM will hit the road to play at Southern Arkansas University on Thursday. The conference game will begin at 6 p.m.
