DURANT, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped at Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Thursday in Durant, Oklahoma. The Weevils and Savage Storm were close throughout the contest, but SEOSU prevailed late, earning the win, 83-78.

UAM did hit some shots late in the contest to try and stay alive, but the Savage Storm were able to hold on down the stretch to earn the victory.

The Weevils fell behind early actually being down 17 points in the first half. They fought back into the contest though thanks to a 16-4 run. Much of that run was aided by Marcus Gilbert, Justin Slocum and Denzel McDuffey who helped push back the Weevils into a tie with the Savage Storm, 31-31, with 6:39 left to play.

UAM then took the lead shortly after on buckets from KJ Lesure and Kwame McBean. However, the Weevils would go into the break trailing the Savage Storm, 43-40.

Early in the second period it was tight as UAM took a four-point lead with 12:47 left to go. To help them get there, McBean and Slocum again proved to be big men on the inside getting some buckets in the paint.

With 11:17 remaining however, UAM would lose its lead to SEOSU. The Savage Storm would then take advantage going up by four with 8:40 left to go.

In the final few minutes, the Weevils fought back within three. With just 27 seconds remaining, Slocum got a nice basket inside, but the Savage Storm would get a basket on the next possession, putting the game away, 83-78.

Slocum led all UAM scorers with 21 points and finished one rebound short of a double-double with nine.
