MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team snagged its first Great American Conference victory of the 2020 campaign with a 12-4 victory over Harding University from Weevils Field in Monticello, Arkansas on Saturday. UAM's Jordan Johnson had a big day going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI.

UAM and Harding were locked in a tie until the Weevils used the fifth inning to jump out in front and never look back.

After the Bisons tallied three runs in the third, UAM responded in the bottom frame. Following a leadoff double from Cade Thompson, Andrew Piraino ripped a single to score him. One batter later, Johnson deposited an 0-1 pitch over the wall for a two-run shot. It was his second homer of the year and it tied the game up, 3-3.

With the game still tied in the fifth, Hudson Hopkins broke the draw with a two-run shot of his own to make it a 5-3 UAM advantage. It was his first home run of the season.

The Weevils added runs in the seventh and eighth, slapping the ball all over the field eventually taking a 12-3 lead.

Harding added one run in the top of the ninth, but that was all as the Weevils went on to win, 12-4.
