Blossoms set to open home schedule against Ouachita Baptist

The UAM softball team will open its home schedule and GAC play with a pair of doubleheaders against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday and Sunday from the Alvy Early Softball field in Monticello, Arkansas. After a 12:30 p.m. start time on Saturday, the Blossoms will start at 12 p.m. on Sunday playing two games apiece.

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team will open its home schedule and Great American Conference play with a pair of doubleheaders against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday and Sunday from the Alvy Early Softball field in Monticello, Arkansas. After a 12:30 p.m. start time on Saturday, the Blossoms will start at 12 p.m. on Sunday playing two games apiece.
 
Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts this weekend with other UAM events, there will be no live coverage for the games on Saturday afternoon, but there will be coverage on Sunday. Statistics and recaps will be posted when the information becomes available on Saturday.

BLOSSOM NOTES
The Blossoms are coming off a much-needed second victory of the year over Missouri Western State University to conclude the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.
 
As a team thus far in 2020, UAM is hitting .243 (57-for-235) in its first nine games with six home runs and 38 RBI.
 
Caroline Tedder has led the way for the Blossoms batting .296 (8-for-27) with a pair of homers and seven RBI. She also carries a .519 slugging percentage and a .387 on-base percentage.
 
Kara DeBruin is just behind her batting .292 (7-for-24) with a home run, two triples and one double and four RBI. She also leads the team in slugging with a .625 percentage.
 
Haley Godeaux is also above .280 hitting .286 (6-for-21) with two home runs and is tied for the team-lead in RBI with seven.
 
UAM has struggled in the circle thus far in 2020 carrying a 6.23 ERA (54 ER in 60.2 IP).
 
Raegyn Parrish has been the team's top hurler with a 4.57 ERA (5 ER in 7.2 IP) with nine strikeouts.

TIGERS NOTES
The Tigers are coming off an 8-4 victory over New Mexico Highlands University to conclude their time at the George Ola McCorckle Tournament. In the tournament, they went 1-4.
 
As a team, the Tigers are batting .264 (47-for-178) with three home runs and have driven in 25 RBI.
 
Heather Brown and Hope Waid are both hitting .400 (4-for-10). Waid has a double and an RBI while carrying a .500 slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
 
Leighton Withers has the team's most RBI with four on one home run and a pair of doubles.
 
In the circle, Faith Melton and Sloane Precure have been the team's top hurlers. Precure is yet to surrender a run in one appearance of 3.0 innings while also securing a win.
 
Melton has made five appearances and carries a 1.91 ERA (3 ER in 11.0 IP) while grabbing one save.

UP NEXT
The Blossoms will continue GAC play, but on the road, as they travel to Weatherford, Oklahoma to play Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Friday and Saturday.
