SPRINGFIELD, MO. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's basketball team fell to Drury University in an all-out effort Tuesday. The Weevils refused to let the Panthers take a win without a fight as the pushed to the very end of the match, eventually falling, 70-64.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair as UAM and Drury would change leads 7 separate times. The Panthers would make an 8-0 run at the end of the half to take a 43-34 lead as the teams would head into the locker rooms.
On the defensive end in the opening 20 minutes, UAM held the Miners to just 26-49 field goals and 6-16 shooting from beyond the arc.
The second half would start out in a not-so-hot fashion for the Weevils as the Panthers would quickly take a 19 point lead over UAM with a score of 56-37 with over 14 minutes left on the clock. It was not looking good for Monticello, but the Weevils would refuse to give up; going on a 27-6 point run to give them a 64-62 lead with 1:42 left on the clock. Though they showed great fight, Monticello was not able to hold the Panthers as they would score the final points of the game; winning 70-64.
Josh Williams led the charge posting 17 points and 2 rebounds.
Richard Feagin Jr. also finished in double digits tallying 12 points.
Defensively, the Weevils registered eight steals and two blocks while forcing Drury into 16 turnovers.
