UAM Falls at Ouachita

In its second-straight game with only seven available players, the Blossoms go down on the road against Ouachita Baptist 77-51 Thursday.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Playing in its second-consecutive contest with seven available players, the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team fell to Ouachita Baptist on the road Thursday. Turnovers and second chance opportunities for the Tigers kept the Blossoms from keeping the contest close as UAM ultimately lost 77-51.

The Blossoms (1-5, 1-5 GAC) allowed a 6-0 run to open the game by OBU (3-3, 3-3 GAC) before attempting to battle back in the first quarter. UAM struggled to put points on the board early shooting just 22.2 percent to end the opening quarter with a 22-9 deficit.

UAM stepped up on the defensive end in the second quarter holding the Tigers to just 14 points on 30 percent shooting from the field before heading into the locker room trailing 36-20.

The second half saw a better offensive performance from the Blossoms as they knocked down 40 percent of their shots in the third and 37 percent in the fourth.

Ultimately, UAM struggled to protect the ball on offense and clean up the glass defensively as OBU took advantage for 39 points off turnovers and offensive rebounds. The Blossom eventually fell 77-51.

Taylor Flores and Nina Kizzee led the way offensively for UAM tallying 17 and 15 points, respectively. Flores knocked down four shots from downtown while Kizzee added three steals.

Dezirae King also finished in double digits scoring 11 points in the contest.

Aeryn Hawkins paced the Blossoms on the glass pulling down a season-high 10 rebounds.
