ALVA, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team failed to get on the scoreboard dropping game three at Northwestern Oklahoma State to lose the opening weekend series. The Blossoms fell behind in the first inning and could not battle back scattering four hits across seven innings.
NWOSU (5-2, 2-1 GAC) jumped on the Blossoms (1-2, 1-2 GAC) early platting two runs in the bottom of the first inning on two hits.
UAM responded by getting runners in scoring position in the second and third innings, but failed to bring them home.
The Rangers tacked on two more runs in the third on an RBI-double and a wild pitch.
The Blossoms managed just two hits over the final four innings falling 4-0 to NWOSU in game three to lose the series 2-1.
Jamie Franks (L, 0-1) took the loss for UAM allowing four runs, only two earned, on five hits in six innings pitched. She held the Rangers offense to an average of .217 on 5-of-23 in the losing effort.
Hannah Howell earned the win for the Rangers going seven innings on the mound while picking up seven strikeouts.
