The UAM softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday. The Blossoms fell behind early in both contests and could not battle back dropping game one 4-0 and game two 4-1.

DURANT, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday to drop the series 3-0. The Blossoms fell behind early in both contest and could not battle back falling 4-0 in game one and 4-1 in game two.

Following the series loss, UAM drops to 5-10 overall and 5-9 in Great American Conference play. Southeastern improves to 13-2 on the season and 9-1 in league contests.

GAME ONE: SOSU 4, UAM 0

Sam Stephens got the start on the bump for the Blossoms in game one and was welcomed with plenty of traffic on the bases in the bottom of the first. The freshman was able to limit the damage to just one run as Southeastern executed a double-steal to swipe home plate.

Stephens put the Savage Storm down in order in the second, but two hits and an error in the bottom half of the third allowed Southeastern to plate two more runs.

The Blossoms put runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings, but could not scratch a run across.

Southeastern tacked on the final run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth to make the Blossoms' deficit 4-0.

UAM was unable to put together a rally going down in order in the sixth and seventh ultimately falling 4-0 in game one of the day.

Stephens (L, 1-2) took the loss giving up four runs, three earned, on seven hits across six innings pitched.

Cheyenne Mahy (W, 4-1) picked up the win for Southeastern scattering six UAM hits in seven scoreless innings.

GAME TWO: SOSU 4, UAM 1

It was a similar start in game two as Southeastern jumped out to the early lead pushing two runs across against UAM starter Jamie Franks in the bottom of the first inning.

The Blossoms put a runner in scoring position with two outs in the third after Madison Morrissey single and stole second. However, the frame would end with her stranded at second leaving UAM scoreless.

After the rocky first inning, Franks settled in on the mound retiring Southeastern in order in the second and third.

UAM got on the board in the top of the fourth without recording a hit. Katelynn Stamper was hit by a pitch to leadoff the frame before moving over to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mahayla Mitchell. One hitter later with two down in the inning Stamper stole third and came around to score on an errant throw by the catcher.

Southeastern responded with a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning before pushing across its final run in the bottom of the sixth to put the Blossoms down three.

Once again, UAM was unable to mount a late rally losing game two of the doubleheader 4-1.

Franks (L, 2-4) ended with the defeat giving up four runs, just one earned, over six innings on the bump.

Amberlyn Walsworth (W, 7-0) picked up the win allowing one run on three hits in seven innings pitched.
