Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team lost in four sets against Arkansas Tech at Steelman Field House Tuesday. The Blossom dropped back-and-forth battles in the first two sets before earning a win in the third, but they were unable to hold onto an early lead in the fourth set ultimately losing the match 3-1.
UAM (2-5) went to battle with ATU (5-1) in the first two sets managing to hold early leads in both sets. However the Golden Suns put together scoring runs to go on top and hold off the Blossoms to take the first set 25-22 and the second 25-21.
The third set start in a similar fashion as the Blossoms took the early lead, but this time after ATU battle back UAM went on a run of its own. After the score was knotted at nine, the Blossoms went on an 8-1 run to take a 16-10 lead before going on to win the set 25-21.
Once again UAM came out strong to begin the fourth set to build a four point advantage, but a 12-1 run by the Golden Suns would turn the tide. The Blossoms tried to make a comeback, but could not overcome the attack from ATU dropping the fourth set 25-17 to lose the match 3-1.
A trio of Blossoms tallied double-digit kills as Faith Wilemon led the way with 15 while Isabelle Combs and Mikaela Brown registered 14 and 13, respectively.
Katie Pearson posted 43 assists to go along with 15 digs.
Defensively, Katelyn Richbourg paced UAM with 32 digs. Combs and Kenzi Thonton also posted double-digit dig numbers with 19 and 11 each.
