MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team came out with a loss tonight in their Great American Conference match-up with Southeastern Oklahoma State University, 69-50.
The first quarter proved to be a slow start for both the Blossoms and the Savage Storm as they struggled to get shots up. The UAM ladies were only 4-17 on field goals for the quarter, while the Southeastern squad was 6-16. Each team's defense refused to let the other put easy points on the board. Through their best efforts, the teams would head into the second quarter with SEOSU on top.
The second quarter was a turn of events as the Blossoms struggled to get any points on the board. The Storm defense played well as Southeastern would outscore UAM and head to the locker rooms still on top.
The third and fourth quarters were very similar as each team was able to keep the scores within 3 points for each quarter. The half proved to be a tie as each team scored 34 points. Regardless, the Storm would win the game 69-50 and the Blossoms fall to a 0-7 record in conference play.
Taylor Flores led the charge posting 17 points and four rebounds.
Defensively, the Blossoms registered four steals and four blocks while forcing SEOSU into 8 turnovers.
The Blossoms will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 6th as they travel to Durant, Oklahoma for a GAC match-up with Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The game is set to begin at 5:30 PM.
