Volleyball Falls to Harding on the Road

BOX SCORE

SEARCY, Ark. -
The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team came out with a loss on Tuesday when they traveled to Searcy, Arkansas to take on Great American Conference foe Harding University. This was the Blossoms second time taking on the Bison this year. They played three sets in the match, falling to Harding, 3-0.

UAM closes out the day with a 10-18 total record and a 4-11 GAC record on the 2022 season after the conclusion of Tuesday.

The opening set was a ferocious display of volleyball from both UAM and Harding university, with both teams refusing to let the other get the best of them. The Bisons may have been the first team to put points on the board, but the Blossoms refused to let them run away with the score. Throughout the set, the score was tied nine separate time, eventually coming to a 24-24 game. Unfortunately, Harding would score the final two points to take a 26-24 win and a 1-0 lead on the match.

The second set started off hot for the Blossoms as they quickly took a 3-0 lead. UAM would hold on to that lead for a majority of the set, even taking a substantial lead at 16-12. The Bisons made their charge to regain control of the match with a 6-0 run. Although Monticello would push their way back to a 23-22 Harding lead, the home team would once again take the win. The final score of set two was 25-22.

Set three began with UAM scoring the first point once again, but was followed by six straight points from Harding University. The Bisons took advantage of UAM attack errors throughout the match to increase their lead. Even with an end game run for the Blossoms, the set would eventually come to an end with a 25-18 win for HU. Harding would take the win 3-0.

Holiday Ellis
led the Blossoms in kills with 10.
Mia Smalls contributed 28 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Kenzi Thornton with 13 digs.
