MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's basketball team came up on the wrong end of a 78-69 decision during Saturday's, Great American Conference match-up with Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Steelman Field House.
UAM (10-12) had two players score in double figures. The Weevils played a fantastic game, battling back, but were unable to take back the lead.
Cole Anderson and Josh Denton each reached double figures for Arkansas-Monticello.
Anderson totaled 23 points and put on a dominant performance for the Weevils in the paint. He has now scored in double figures in 7 games, this being his first performance over 20 points for the Weevils this season.
Denton tallied 12 points as well, being his first game to reach 10-plus points for the Weevils this season.
The Savage Storm were the first to score, putting in a three to get the game rolling. Richard Feagin Jr. was the first to score for the Weevils, putting in a jump shot. Though UAM would find their way back into the lead, they were unable to hold it as SEOSU pushed back, taking the control back from UAM for the remainder of the half's entirety. The Weevils were able to put up 23 points throughout the entirety, down 28-23 as the two teams would head into the locker room.
The second half proved to be a gnarly back and forth fight between Southeastern and Arkansas-Monticello as they both refused to let the other get comfortable. At one point the Storm had a 22 point lead over the Weevils, but a late rally would keep UAM in the game. Monticello would put up 46 points compared to the Storm's 50 points in the half. UAM finished out the match with a final score of 78-69.
The Weevils move to 10-12 on the season, with a 6-10 GAC record.
