Day 2 of Alvy Early Memorial Classic Recap

Box Score BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball closed out day two of the Alvy Early Memorial Classic at Bentonville on Saturday. UAM took on Harding University, losing the match 11-9 to the Bisons in extra innings.
 
The Blossoms had their work cut out for them in today's match-up with Harding, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Madison Morrissey hit a single and Haley Cornell walked, both of which would score on a three-run home run from Caroline Tedder. UAM would score two more in the bottom of the second thanks to an RBI from Hannah Holdbrook to score Miranda Thompson. Grace Neal also hit an RBI single to score Alissa Suarez.

Harding would answer back in the top of the fourth inning, scoring 4 runs of their own. Monticello put up another run in the bottom half of the inning, holding on to a 6-5 lead thanks to a SAC fly from Haley Cornell to score Alissa Suarez.

A couple of doubles from Christa Lannon and Lauryn Davies lead to a big inning for the Blossoms, posting three more runs to the UAM lead. Harding would also add three more runs of their own in the top of the sixth and another in the top of the seventh to tie the game up. They would eventually score two in the top of the eighth, to which Monticello couldn't answer. The Bisons would win the game 11-9.

Maddie Chalenburg started on the mound for the Blossoms, posting 3.0 innings on the day. Chalenburg would give up five runs on five hits, with four errors behind her. Maguire Estill entered the game with in the top of the fourth, recording 5.0 innings thrown with three strikeouts, and no batters walked.

Showcased Offense
Caroline Tedder - Went 2-for-5 with a home run with 3RBIs.
Christa Lannon - Went 3-for-4 in with a double and a run scored.
Madison Morrissey - Went 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and an RBI.

On Deck
The Blossoms return to the field on Sunday, Feb. 13 for day 3 of the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. They play games against Missouri Western State University at 11 a.m. Following this game is a match up with Lincoln University at 3 p.m.
