DURANT, Okla. – The
Arkansas-Monticello baseball team traveled to Durant, Oklahoma for their first of a three game, Great American Conference series with Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The Weevils were unable to hold on to the lead they had built as they fall in game one, 5-4.
UAM held a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but ultimately dropped the series opener against SEOSU by a score of 5-4 in 9 innings Saturday in Durant, Oklahoma.
Southeastern Oklahoma State scored 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth and held on to that lead for the final inning.
The Weevils posted a run of their own in the top of the second.
Nick Fakouri launched a home run over the left field wall.
UAM would score their final three runs of the ball game in the top of the fifth inning.
Chase Cripps ripped a double into left center to bring home
BJ Lee, Cripps would eventually score on a throwing error, and
Cade Thompson scored on a
Reece Reading single to right field.
Pitching Performances
The UAM pitching staff had its work cut out for them, totaling five different pitchers in the game.
Derek Potts started on the mound, totaling 7.0 dominant innings pitched. The right-hander struck out eight batters and had five walks.
Rigell Robinson would enter the game in the eighth, tallying 1.0 inning pitched with three runs allowed on three hits. He struck out two batters and had one walk.
The loss drops Arkansas-Monticello to 7-13 on the season and 4-9 in GAC play.
