MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello softball program opened their GAC series with Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Friday. The Blossoms went late into Game 1 without scoring a run as they fell behind 2-0 to the SEOSU ladies. The Blossoms would eventually come back to win the match 3-2 in walk off style to conclude the seventh.
The UAM team struggled to put a run on the board for most of the match. The Savage storm put up 2 runs throughout the match, scoring 1 in the third, and another in the top of the sixth to take a 2-0 lead on the Blossoms.
The Blossoms would fight back, scoring a run in the bottom of the sixth as
Grace Neal blasted a ball over the right-center wall.
Southeastern couldn't score a run in the top of the seventh, hoping to best the home team as they went into the bottom half of the inning.
Madison Morrissey roped a ball into the right center to score
Maddie Chalenburg, and
Hannah Holdbrook walked the game off with a shot off the left field wall to score
Emily Cecil for the final Blossom run.
Pitching Showcase
Sam Stephens started in the circle for the Blossoms, posting 5.0 innings, and only allowing 1 runs on seven hits.
Averie Gunther was the second pitcher of the match, tallying 2.0 innings pitched with three strikeouts.

Grace Neal - Went 1-3 with a home run
Haley Cornell - Went 1-3 with a double
Averie Gunther - Hit 1-3 with a double

Arkansas-Monticello return to Alvy Early Softball Field on Saturday for a doubleheader to close out their GAC series with Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The games are set to start at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
