Blossoms run through Reddies in Game 1

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello softball came out hot in Game 1 of their Great American Conference series with Henderson State University. They Blossoms took the win, taking down the Reddies in five innings, 14-2.

A solid display of hitting in the top of the first gave the Blossoms a 3 run inning o start off the day. Hannah Holdbrook scored on a Caroline Tedder single to center. Tedder and Grace Neal would both score on a Lauryn Davies double to right center.

The Reddies were quick to strike back, scoring 2 runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

UAM put up 2 more runs in the fourth. Lauryn Davies scored on an Alissa Suarez bunt, and Averie Gunther scored on a fielder's choice.

The Blossoms would put up 9 runs in the 5th inning, leading to a run rule after HSU couldn't answer back in the bottom half. Haley Cornell drove in the first 2 runs on a home run to right center. Lauryn Davies scored on an Averie Gunther triple. Gunther would score on a Christa Lannon, followed by Lannon scoring herself courtesy of a Madison Morrissey double down the left field line. Holdbrook and Morrissey both scored on a Tedder single. Tedder and Neal scored the final runs of the inning on a double from Haley Cornell.

A brilliant display of offense from the Blossoms gave them a run-rule win over the Reddies.

Pitching Performance
Jamie Franks
 started in the circle, posting 3.0 innings, and only allowing 2 runs on 6 hits.
Maddie Chalenburg tossed the last 2 innings of the game, allowing only 1 hit and 0 runs.

The Blossoms return to the field in Arkadelphia on Saturday, Mar. 5 for their final match-up of their HSU series. The first game is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
