Box Score SEARCY AR. – The Arkansas-Monticello softball team drops Game 3 against Harding University in their weekend, GAC series. There Blossoms were the first team to score on Saturday, but eventually fell to the Lady Bisons, finishing out the game with a final score of 5-4.
Haley Cornell led the Blossoms to their first run on Saturday afternoon when she stepped to the plate in the first inning and drove in
Averie Gunther with a double to right center field.
Harding responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the score back up at 1-1.
UAM found some momentum in the third inning when they scored two more runs.
Hannah Holdbrook drove a double to left center that scored
Alexis Pevehouse and
Grace Neal roped a double of her own to right field, scoring Holdbrook.
The Lady Bisons picked up another run in the third themselves.
Monticello took a 4-2 lead in the fourth when
Sam Stephens scored on a
Haley Cornell walk.
Harding University would score a run in each of the next three inning to win the match 5-4.
Pitching Performances
Sam Stephens started in the circle for the Blossoms, posting 4.0 innings on the day. Stephens gave up 3 runs on 8 hits to the Bisons in her outing, striking out two batters.
Maddie Chalenburg tossed the remaining 2.1 innings on the mound for UAM, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs. She struck out a batter as well.
The loss on the day drops Arkansas-Monticello to 16-21 on the season and 10-7 in GAC play.
On Deck
The Blossoms return to the field on Tuesday, Apr. 5th as they host Southern Arkansas University at Alvy Early Softball Field. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
