HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The day before the opening of the 2022 Great American Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, the conference announced it's All-GAC Teams and academic awards for the 2022 baseball season. The UAM Baseball team had five standout players earn honors this year with
Cade Thompson,
Jordan Johnson,
Mason Philley,
Derek Potts, and
Chase Cripps each earning an award.
Junior second baseman
Cade Thompson took home the honor of being selected for the All-GAC First Team. He also received the GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete Award.
Senior utility player
Jordan Johnson took home the honor of All-GAC Second Team.
Three Weevils were awarded GAC Honorable Mention nominations: Junior pitcher
Mason Philley, junior pitcher
Derek Potts, and freshman infielder
Chase Cripps
The Weevils are back on the field tomorrow, Saturday, May 7th, to open up their first game of the GAC Championship Tournament. UAM will take on Henderson State in their tournament opener, and the game is set to begin at 3:50 p.m. in Hot Springs, Arkansas at Majestic Park.
