SEARCY, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team closed out the day two of the 2022 Harding University Invitational on Saturday. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to William Jewell College.
UAM closes out the tournament with a season record of 5-7 after the conclusion of Saturday.
The opening set began with William Jewell scoring first, but UAM taking the lead away from them briefly. The Cardinals answered with a 10-0 run of their own to claim a daunting 11-2 lead over the Blossoms. As the set continued, William Jewell would continue increasing their lead, eventually taking the win, 25-14.
In the second set Monticello was the first team to score, keeping the score within one for a majority of the set. The Cardinals found an 8-1 run late in the set to give them a strong advantage over the Blossoms. William Jewell would once again take the set, winning with a score of 25-17.
The third and final set of the match began very similar to the first, as the Cardinals once again scored first, followed by the Blossoms taking the lead away briefly. William Jewell would take back the lead and continue to outscore UAM for the remainder of the set. They would take a win in the set, 25-16, and a 3-0 win in the match.
Alyssa Smith led the Blossoms in kills with 8.
Kalin Duncan contributed 12 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Stasha Adams with 18 digs.

UAM returns to action on Tuesday, September 13 as they travel to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Great American Conference rival Southern Arkansas University. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
