| ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team traveled to Alva, Oklahoma to take on Great American Conference member Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms came out of their twelfth contest of the year with a 59-52 loss to the Lady Rangers.
Freshman
Alindsey Long led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (4-8, 1-5 GAC) with an 18 point performance on the night. She shot for 7-12 on field goals, hitting four of eight three pointers throughout the match. She had both one offensive and one defensive rebound contributed on top of two assists and a steal in the match.
Returning sophomore Bailey Harris posted 12 points of her own in the match. She went 4-10 on field goals, 3-4 on shots from beyond-the-arc and 1-2 from the free throw line with two rebounds. She also had an assist and a steal.
NWOSU (7-3, 3-3 GAC) was led by
Camille Thomas with 26 points.
The Lady Rangers were the first team to put points on the board in the opening quarter, scoring two baskets for five points before the Blossoms could respond. UAM were able to hit a handful of baskets to tie the game four separate times throughout the remainder of the half, but were unable to reclaim the lead as the quarter came to a close. UAM came out 4-12 on field goals, 2-6 on threes and 2-2 on free throws. The teams would head into the second quarter with Northwestern Oklahoma on top 14-12.
The second quarter was the lowest scoring quarter of the game. The Blossoms were able to outscore the Bulldogs in the second ten minutes 13 points to 8. Northwestern Oklahoma and Arkansas-Monticello would only shoot for 36% and 35% each in their performance. The teams would finish the half and head to the locker rooms with the Blossoms on top, 25-22.
The third quarter proved to once again go the Lady Rangers way as they would outscore the Blossoms, 22-9 in the third ten minute period of the game. NWOSU would go 7-13 on field goals, compared to Arkansas-Monticello's 3-16.
The fourth and final quarter of the game was an action packed 10 minutes as the Blossoms and Lady Rangers would score for a combined 33 points. The Blossoms would fight throughout the final fourth of the game, outscoring the home team with a difference of 18-15. Northwestern Oklahoma would unfortunately come out on top of the match with a final score of 59-52.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 19 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms return to action on Thursday, January 12 when they host Great American Conference foe Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Steelman Field House. The match is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
