MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team traveled to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the Warhawks of Auburn University - Montgomery on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms came out with a 63-54 loss.
Newcomer
Alyssia Thorne led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (2-2) with 17 points, going 7-14 on total field goals and 3-4 on free throws. She also contributed three offensive and six defensive rebounds on the night for a team-leading nine, and two assists and two steals in her 35 minutes played.
Alindsey Long posted 12 points of her own on the game, hitting 4-11 field goals, 2-6 three-pointers, and 2-2 free throws. Long also gave the Blossoms one assist.
Bailey Harris was the final Blossom in double-digits, scoring 11 points against the Warhawks. Harris hit 5-9 field goals and 1-2 shots from the line with five rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and two steals.
Auburn University Montgomery (2-1) was led by
Tian Addison with 20 points.
The first quarter began with the Blossoms hitting the first two shots of the game on a jumper from
Kelsey Blakemore and a three pointer from
Alindsey Long. The home team responded with eight points to reclaim the lead over UAM. Arkansas-Monticello trailed for the remainder of the quarter, going 5-15 for field goals and only one of seven three pointers. The teams would head into the second ten minutes with the Warhawks on top, 20-11.
Quarter two was once again led by AUM as they out scored UAM 20-14. The Blossoms improved on field goals for the quarter, hitting 47% of their field goals, going 7-15. The teams would finish the half and head to the locker rooms with the Warhawks still leading, 40-25.
UAM came out of half time hot, outscoring AUM throughout the third. The Blossoms saw
Alyssia Thorne score eight of their 18 points throughout the quarters entirety. UAM went 9-12 on field goals, outscoring the Warhawks, 18-11.
The fourth quarter proved to be the lowest scoring quarter of the game, with a combined total of 23 points between the two. The match would eventually come to an end with the Warhawks on top, 63-54. The Blossoms leave Montgomery, Alabama with a 2-2 record on the season.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 17 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms return to Steelman Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 21 to take on Arkansas Baptist College. The first game of the Turkey Special is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
