MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team hosted in-state Great American Conference member, Harding University, on Thursday for the final game of the 2023 season. The Blossoms played three total sets, dropping the matchup against the Bisons 3-0.
The opening set began with an early lead from the Blossoms, but saw the Bisons regain the lead throughout the first half of the set. Harding stretched their lead into the middle of the set, 14-5. UAM kept chipping away at the Bisons lead, seeing a kill from
Campbell Horn to give the Blossoms some life. Another kill from
Abrielle Jordan continued the Blossoms fight for the lead. Two service aces from the Blossoms' lone senior,
Stasha Adams, kept UAM in the set. The Bisons eventually took set one, 25-15.
Set two saw an early two point lead from Harding, but a kill form
Abrielle Jordan put UAM on the board. The Bisons continued to stretch their lead as the set continued, but two big time kills from
Natalie White cut the Bisons' lead in half. A kill from
Campbell Horn gave the Blossoms some momentum as they continued to battle with Harding. A massive block by
Jasmine Welton put a stop to the visiting team's rally.
Natalie White sparked a rally of their own for the Blossoms with a kill, followed by a block from
Jasmine Welton. The Blossoms were unable to catch up to the Bisons' lead, dropping set two 25-15.
The third and final set started with lead from the Blossoms thanks to a kill from
Campbell Horn and an ace serve form
Zoe Finkler. The Bisons pushed for a comeback, but a kill from
Abrielle Jordan prevented their advance. Another kill from
Natalie White kept the Blossoms in the lead over the Bisons. Harding took the lead heading into the middle of the set, with the Blossoms trailing close behind. A kill from
Jasmine Welton brought the Blossoms within reach of the lead. Harding extended their lead, winning the set 25-17.
Natalie White led the Blossoms in kills with 9 on the night.
Jordan Wehr and
Bruna Silva both contributed 11 assists in the match.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by
Stasha Adams and
Jasmine Welton with 12 digs each on the night.
