Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team traveled to Ouchita Baptist University on Saturday afternoon to take on the Tigers. The Weevils came out with an 80-74 loss to close out the 2023 leg of the season.
Zane Nelson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (3-6, 1-3 GAC) with 33 points, going 12-21 on total field goals, 4-7 from beyond the three point line, and 5-7 from the line. He also contributed five total rebounds on top of four assists and four steals in his 38 minutes played.
Isaac Jackson contributed 21 points of his own throughout the game, hitting 7-21 field goals and going 7-8 on free throws with a team-leading seven rebounds.
Ouachita Baptist was led by
Emorie Knox with 23 points.
Isaac Jackson opened the game for the Weevils, hitting the first shot to give UAM the early 2-0 lead. The Tigers responded with a 15-point run to reclaim a 13-point advantage over Monticello. With 6:28 left on the clock, UAM would tie the score at 20-20 and push on to a nine point lead. Arkansas-Monticello shot for 46% on field goals in the half, compared to Ouachita's 42%. The teams would head to the locker rooms with UAM on top, 34-31.
The second 20 minutes saw another aggressive display of basketball between the two teams, with 89 points scored between them. After 2:30 minutes of play, the Tigers overtook UAM. After a quick change of the lead, the home team retook the advantage and held on to the lead for the remainder of the game. The Boll Weevils eventually came out of the match-up with an 80-74 loss to close out the 2023 leg of the year.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return home to Steelman Fieldhouse on Thursday, Jan. 4 to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
