MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took on St. Cloud State University for games two and three of their four game series on Monday. The Weevils came out of the first game with a 25-15 loss and finished the third game Monday morning with a 5-4 win over the Huskies.
With the 2-1 record on the weekend, Arkansas-Monticello won their originally scheduled series against SCSU and hope to come out of their additional game with a win.
Game 1, 9 Innings

The Huskies found the first run of the game in the top of the 1st, but the Weevils responded with a lead off home run from
Parker Dorrance, followed by an RBI single through the six-hole from
Cade Cancilla to score
Cade Thompson.
After a 4-run 3rd inning for St. Cloud, Arkansas-Monticello found two runs courtesy of a 2-run home run over the scoreboard from
Reece Reading.
Trailing 11-4, the Weevils crossed five runs going in the 5h inning thanks to a couple RBI singles from
Kirk Woolf and
Noah Estrem, a SAC fly from
Cade Cancilla, and a 2-run Brasi bomb from
Cade Thompson.
Two RBI singles and a run scored on a passed ball in the 7th brought UAM back within 2 runs as the score became 14-12.
Following an 11-run span over the 8th and 9th for the Huskies, the Weevils were only able to cross the plate three more times before the game would come to an end with St. Cloud on top 25-15.
Game 2, 7 innings
After the Weevils found a run in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead on Sunday, the game was suspended due to darkness as the sun was setting on Weevils Field.

After the Weevils found a run in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead on Sunday, the game was suspended due to darkness as the sun was setting on Weevils Field.
The Huskies were the first to score, putting 2 runs on the board in the first, scoring a run on a single and a double down the right field line.
Reece Reading tied it up in the fourth, hammering a 2-run shot over the scoreboard in right center.
Cade Cancilla crossed home on the blast.
DeShaun Cordova launched a ball over the right center wall as well in the 5th inning to Give UAM the lead.
Parker Dorrance scored run number 4 on a
Cade Thompson single up the middle.
St. Cloud tied the game up at 4-4 in the sixth on two RBIs, but were met with a run from the Weevils in the bottom of the inning; with
Cade Cancilla scoring on a single from
Kyle Frame before the game was paused for darkness.
The Huskies were unable to respond on Monday morning when they game resumed and the game would conclude with a 5-4 Weevil WIN and a 2-1 conclusion to the weekend.

- Mason Philley started on the mound in the first game of the day, totaling 4.1 innings pitched with 10 runs allowed, 8 hits and 5 strikeout on the day.
- Matt Huey took his turn on the bump, dishing out 2.1 innings pitched for the Weevils. He struck out three batters, with 7 hits and 4 runs allowed with 5 base by balls.

Adam Armstrong was the third pitcher for UAM, tossing 1.0 inning with 3 runs allowed on 1 hit.

- Connor Irvine started on the mound for the Weevils in game two, throwing 6.0 innings pitched with 4 runs allowed on 10 hits with 8 strikeout on the day.

The split on the day pushed Arkansas-Monticello to a 5-1 start to the 2023 season as they prepared for their fourth game against the Huskies.
