MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team hosted Great American Conference member Southern Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon. The Boll Weevils came out of their twentieth GAC match-up of the 2022-23 season with a 56-44 loss to the Crimson Storm.
Isaac Jackson once again led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (11-15, 7-13 GAC) with 14 points in his Saturday afternoon performance against the Crimson Storm. Jackson shot 6-16 on field goals and 2-4 on shots from beyond-the-arc with a team leading nine rebounds on top of two assists and a steal.
Cole Anderson posted 10 points for the Weevils in his Saturday afternoon. Anderson knocked down 4 of 6 field goals and 2-2 free throws. He also contributed a rebound and an assist.
Southern Nazarene (23-3, 19-1 GAC) was led by
Tyler McGhie with a 13 point performance.
The opening 20 minutes of the game began with back-to-back layups from Southern Nazarene to give the Crimson Storm the early advantage in the contest. The Weevils would respond with a battle for the remainder of the half, even snagging the lead away from SNU at the 5:21 mark. The visiting Southern Nazarene reclaimed the lead and hold it for the remainder of the half. The first half of the contest would come to a close with Arkansas-Monticello shooting for 47.37% on field goals compared to Southern Nazarene's 40.91%. The teams would head to the locker room with SNU leading, 25-22.
The second half began with a three pointer from the visiting Southern Nazarene, followed by both teams seemingly matching each others shots before the Crimson Storm eventually started building their lead on UAM. The match would come to a close with a Boll Weevil loss as UAM would drop the match-up to the Crimson Storm. The final score would be 56-44.
Arkansas-Monticello committed only 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to Steelman Field House on Thursday, February 23 when they host Great American Conference member Harding University for their final home game of the 2022-23 season. The match will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
