Weevils Fall on the Road to Close out the 2022-23 Regular Season

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team traveled to in-state, Great American Conference member Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. The Boll Weevils came out of their final regular season game of the 2022-23 season with a 75-61 loss to the Tigers.

Isaac Jackson once again led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (11-17, 7-15 GAC) with 15 points in his Thursday afternoon performance against the Tigers. Jackson shot 5-15 on field goals, 2-4 on shots from beyond-the-arc and 3-4 on free throws with with four offensive and five defensive rebound for a team-leading nine. He also contributed five assists throughout the contest.

Cole Anderson and Josh Denton were the final Boll Weevils in double-digits, contributing 11 points each, respectively. Anderson shot 5-12 on field goals and 1-3 on free throws with five rebounds. Denton was 4-7 on field goals and 3-6 on threes in his performance, alongside his two rebounds.
 
Ouachita Baptist (11-15, 9-13 GAC) was led by Ma'Darius Hobson with a 19 point, 10 rebound performance.

The opening 20 minutes of the game began with a Tiger basket, followed by back-to-back three from Ray Price and Isaac Jackson to give the Weevils an early advantage. The game would see multiple lead changes throughout the remainder of the half, with the Tigers eventually reclaiming the advantage and keeping it. The first half of the game would come to a close with Arkansas-Monticello shooting for 25.81% on field goals compared to Ouachita Baptist's 47.83%. The teams would head to the locker room with OUA leading, 34-22.

The second half began with a jumper from the home team, followed by a jumper in the paint from Cole Anderson and a three pointer from Josh Denton. The match would come to a close with a Boll Weevil loss as UAM would drop the match-up to the Tigers. The final score would be 75-61.

Arkansas-Monticello committed only 13 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
