Explosive Offense leads Softball to Friday Sweep

ALVA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team traveled to Alva, Oklahoma for a doubleheader to open  their Great American Conference game with Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Friday. The Blossoms came out of game one with a 3-2 win over the Lady Rangers, followed by a 11-1 run-rule in game two.

Game 1, 8 Innings

Scoring Recap:
Northwestern Oklahoma homered in the bottom of the fourth for the first run of the game.

Bailey Camp drove in two runs on a single ripped down the right field line, giving UAM their first lead of the game.

The Rangers responded with a single run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game back at 2-2.

Arkansas-Monticello drove in the game winning run in the eighth inning on a SAC fly from Bailey Camp.

NWOSU was unable to respond, resulting in a game one victory to the Blossoms.

Scoring Recap:
Kennedy Cox Drove in the first two runs of the game for UAM on a home run to right center field, followed by a 2 RBI double from Sophie Wood to give the Blossoms a 4-0 lead in the first.

Grace Neal tacked on another run in the second with a solo shot over the wall in left field.

NWOSU got one back in the bottom half of the second with a solo home run of their own.

Arkansas-Monticello grabbed a run in the fourth on a ground ball, followed by an RBI double from Sophie Wood in the fifth and a grand slam in the sixth for Grace Neal's second home run of the game.

The Lady Rangers were unable to respond, resulting in a 11-1 UAM victory in the sixth.

Pitching Performances
Game 1
Kayla Olthouse started in the circle for UAM, throwing a complete game 8.0 innings with 2 runs allowed on 7 hits. She struck out 4 batters in her outing.

Game 2
- Maguire Estill started game two for the Blossoms, collecting the win with 5.0 innings thrown. She allowed 1 run on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts.
- Sam Stephens closed out the final inning, allowing 0 runs on 0 hits with 2 Ks.

- Bailey Camp - 1-for-3 with 1 Double, 3 RBI and 1 SAC

Game 2
- Grace Neal - 3-for-4 with 2 Home Runs, 5 RBI and 3 Runs Scored
- Kennedy Cox - 2-for-4 with 1 Home Run, 3 RBI and 2 Runs Scored
- Sophie Wood - 2-for-3 with 2 Doubles and 

The sweep on the day drops Arkansas-Monticello to a 21-18 overall, 13-13 GAC record on the season.

Arkansas-Monticello is back to work tomorrow when they once again take on Northwestern Oklahoma State University for game three of their GAC series. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
