Softball Opens HSU Series With Game One Loss

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team Opened their Great American Conference series with Henderson State University on Thursday. The Blossoms came out of game one with a 5-4 loss to the Reddies.

Scoring Recap:
The Blossoms were the first team on the board in game one, scoring two runs in the first on a Bailey Camp single up the middle.

HSU singled to right field in the top of the third to bring home their first run of the ball game.

A home run to dead center field for the Reddies in the fifth tied the game at 2-2.

Lexie Smith ripped a two-run home run over the left center wall in the bottom of the sixth to put the Blossoms back on top, 4-2.

Henderson State found life in the top of the seventh, reclaiming a 5-4 lead on a three run home run to left center field.

Arkansas-Monticello would end the final inning with a runner left on third base, falling to the Reddies.

Pitching Performances
Kayla Olthouse started in the circle in game one, throwing 4.2 innings with 2 runs allowed on 7 hits. She struck out 2 batters in her outing.
- Maguire Estill closed out the remaining 2.1 innings with 3 runs allowed on 3 hits. She also had a strikeout.

Offensive Showcase
- Bailey Camp - 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, 1 Run Scored and 1 Walk
- Lexie Smith - 1-for-3 with 1 Home Run, 2 RBI and 1 Run Scored
- Kennedy Cox - 2-for-4

The loss on the day drops Arkansas-Monticello to a 18-16 overall, 10-11 GAC record on the season.
