RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - UAM Softball's
Kennedy Cox has been named an National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII Third Team All-American and a Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American Honorable Mention, the organizations announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Kennedy Cox, a Groesbeck, TX native, comes to Arkansas-Monticello from Bossier Parish Community College. She proved to be an instant impact for the Blossoms offense, completing the season with a .405 batting average through 148 at-bats. Cox raked in a team-leading 50 RBI in 60 hits, with 20 doubles and 7 home runs, reaching 101 total bases on the year. Her stellar offense gave her an impressive .682 slugging percentage on top of a .434 on-base percentage.
Along with her All-American pick, Cox brought in two All-Central Region First Team picks, one from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the other from Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). She also earned Great American Conference honors, receiving a GAC First Team selection.
Cox becomes the first Blossom to receive an All-American nod since Kayla Jackson in 2012. Jackson was UAM's first three-time softball All-American, being selecting in 2010 (3rd Team), 2011 (2nd Team) and 2012 (2nd Team).
