Baseball Sees GAC Tournament Run Come to a Close Against the Reddies

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took on Henderson State University for game two of their best-of-3 series in the GAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Weevils came out of the game with a 10-2 loss to the Reddies, closing out the 2023 season.

Scoring Recap:
The Reddies were the first team on the board, scoring two runs in the second inning, followed by one more in the third to take a 3-0 lead early.

Arkansas-Monticello responded in the fifth with two runs of their own. Kirk Woolf singled to right field to bring home DeShaun Cordova and Grant Jeffers crossed the plate on an error from the HSU shortstop.

Henderson State grabbed seven runs over the remaining inning to increase their lead to 10-2.

UAM was unable to respond and would eventually close out the season with a loss to the Reddies.

Pitching Performances
- Connor Irvine started on the mound, throwing 5.1 total innings in his outing. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts.
- River Hunt tossed 1.2 innings of his own for the Weevils, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs.
- Derek Potts closed out the final 1.0 innings of the game, giving up 1 earned run and 5 hits.

- Reece Reading - 1-for-3 with 1 Walk

The loss on the day drops Arkansas-Monticello to a 31-21 overall record to conclude the 2023 season.
