Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team hosted Great American Conference member Henderson State University on Thursday evening. The Blossoms played three total sets, dropping the match against the Reddies.
The opening set began with quick exchange of points between the Reddies and the Blossoms, with HSU taking control early for a 6 - 1 lead over UAM. After a service error from the Blossoms the Reddies remained in the lead for the remainder of the set, outscoring the Blossoms 19 - 8. Unfortunately, UAM was unable to make a comeback and dropped set one, 25-10.
Set two started off with the Blossoms in the drivers seat, gaining an instant 4-1 lead over the Reddies. Henderson State climbed back, tying up the set at 4-4, before Arkansas-Monticello regained control with a 10-6 lead. The remainder of the set proved to be a dog fight between the two teams. Unfortunately, HSU saw a 25-22 win to take a 2-0 lead on the match.
Set three saw a dominate showing by HSU as they took an early 9-0 lead over UAM. The Blossoms tried to make a comeback with a four point streak later in the set putting them 11- 20 against the Reddies. Henderson State remained in control for the entirety of the set, eventually winning with a final score of 25-15, and 3-0 match win.
Jasmine Welton once again led the Blossoms in kills with 7 on the night.
Jordan Wehr contributed 9 assists in the match, followed by
Bruna Silva with 8 assists of her own.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by
Stasha Adams with 14 digs.
UP NEXT
Arkansas-Monticello is back in action next week when they host East Central University Thursday night and Southeastern Oklahoma State Friday night at Steelman Field house. The games are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. Thursday night, and 4:00 p.m. Friday night.
