Box Score 4 MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball Team the first ever Blossoms Classic Tournament over the weekend. Hosting four different teams from around the country at Steelman Field House for a two-day event. The Blossoms played four games in the tournament, unfortunately losing all four.
Arkansas-Monticello closed out the first day of the tournament with two losses. Dropping the first game in three sets to Truman State and the second game to Northern State University in three sets as well.
Day two of the tournament proved to be similar to day one with the Blossoms closing out the Blossom Classic with two losses. UAM felt short to Maryville University in the first match of the day with a final score of 3-0, followed by a loss to Christian Brothers University in three sets as well.
As a whole, the tournament was a major success, flowing smoothly between the ten games played at Steelman Field House. We'd like to give a major shout out to the tournament sponsor, Monticello Coffee Company! Your continued support of UAM Athletics is appreciated.

UAM Volleyball Head Coach Katrina English had this to say after the games: "Today we learned...tomorrow we must apply today's lessons. The score does not reflect the hard work and effort I see from these ladies...we will keep our heads up and focus on what we did well. We will keen in on putting all the hard work together consistently"
Match 1
The opening set against Truman State began with the Bulldogs taking the first three points. The Blossoms fought back, tying up the score, and continuing to go back-and-forth with TSU. The visiting team found a could key rallies that eventually led to the Blossoms losing the set, 25-12.
The second set was similar to the first as the Bulldogs would take the early advantage over the Blossoms. UAM fought back tremendously, even grabbing a 4-0 run near the end of the set. The effort was not enough, as the Blossoms would drop the set with a final score of 25-18.
Set three started out in a much different fashion as UAM took off with a 5-0 streak. The Bulldogs responded with five straight points of their own to tie the game back up. UAM as unable to regain control, losing the final set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
Jasmine Welton and Evalyn Dang led the Blossoms in kills with 5 each.
Jordan Wehr contributed 9 assists in the match, followed by Bruna Silva with 7 of her own.
Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Stasha Adams, who had 10 digs.
Match 2
In the second match of the tournament Arkansas-Monticello took on Northern State University. The Blossoms would lose the match in three sets to the Wolves.
Northern State was the first team to score in set one, but were quickly taken over by the home team. UAM held on to the lead over the Wolves for a majority of the first half of the set. Unfortunately, NSU found another gear and saw multiple rallies to gain and extend their lead. The opening set came to a close with Northern State on top, 25-17.
Set two began with NSU taking an 8-1 lead over UAM. In the end, UAM would go down 2-0 on the match after a 25-10 set loss.
The third set was similar to the second as the Wolves would take an early lead over the Blossoms. The match would come to an end with a 25-11 score to end the set and a 3-0 loss to the visiting team.
Offensively, Jasmine Welton once again led the Blossoms in kills with 5.
Bruna Silva was the leader in the assist category, dishing out 8.
On defense, Stasha Adams tallied 12 digs.
Match 3
The opening set with Maryville began with the Saints taking an early lead over the Blsosoms. UAM would follow with multiple points of their own, clawing their way back throughout the first half of the set. The opener came to an end with MU taking a 25-15 win.
Arkansas-Monticello found the first point of the second. The set would prove to be a battle between the two teams, with both refusing to let the other pull ahead. The score would eventually tie at 15-15. A handful of rallies from the visiting team would eventually lead to a 25-20 win in set two for the Saints.
Set three started out with three points to Maryville, followed by a 5-0 run from the Blossoms. The set continued with both teams having multiple rallies against the other. In the end, the Saints would prevail, as UAM saw a 25-15 loss in the set and a 3-0 loss on the match.

Defensively, the Blossoms were once again led by Stasha Adams, who had 13 digs.
Match 4
The opening set with Christian Brothers saw the Lady Buccaneers take an early lead over the Blossoms. UAM fought back, but would eventually drop the set with a final score of 25-12.
UAM turned it around in the second set, scoring the first point and extending their lead to 7-1, following a six-point rally. UAM would extend their lead to 12-4 as the set continued, but saw CBU find their groove. Multiple rallies from the Lady Buccaneers led to a 17-17 game. Unfortunately the Blossoms would drop the set to CBU with a final score of 25-22.
Set final set of the match proved to be a dog fight between the two teams, with both scoring multiple rallies and holding the other close. As the set came to a 21-all score, Christian Brother prevailed. Four points to end the match would lead to a 25-21 loss in the set and a 3-0 loss to end the tournament for UAM.
Abrielle Jordan led the Blossoms in kills with 8.
Jordan Wehr contributed 11 assists in the match, followed by Bruna Silva with 10 of her own.
Defensively, the Blossoms continue to be led by Stasha Adams, who had 19 digs.
UP NEXT
UAM returns to the court on Tuesday, September 5 when they travel to Pine Bluff, Arkansas to take on the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
