DENTON, Tex. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team traveled took on Central Oklahoma in their second game of day one at the 2023 Denton Volleyfest. The Blossoms played only three sets with the Bronchos, unfortunately closing out the day with a loss.

The opening set began with the first two points going to Central Oklahoma.Arkansas-Monticello responded with a 6-0 run, thanks to a handful of kills from Jasmine Welton and service aces from Zoe Finkler. The Bronchos found four points to tie the match back up at 6-6. After tacking on multiple points each, Central Oklahoma would out score UAM 15-2 to finish the set with a final score of 25-12.

Set two started off with Central Oklahoma scoring the first point, but UAM responded with a point of their own. Though the Bronchos was consistent in showing their dominance over UAM, but the Blossoms kept themselves in the game, trailing UCO 13-10 as the match continued. The set eventually came to a close with Central Oklahoma once again taking the set, with a final score of 25-16.

The third and final set began again with the Bronchos scoring the first four points. UAM fought back, staying within two of UCO throughout the beginning of the set. The Blossoms fell behind after Central Oklahoma found back to back rallies to take a 16-6 lead over Arkansas-Monticello. Through grit, UAM clawed their way back to within four, but the set would come to a close with a 25-17 loss. Central Oklahoma would take a 3-0 win over the Blossoms.

Jasmine Welton led the Blossoms in kills with 8.

Bruna Silva contributed 7 assists in the match.

Defensively, the Blossoms were once again led by Stasha Adams with 15 digs.

Arkansas-Monticello is back on the court for day two of the Denton Volleyfest tomorrow morning for two more games. The Blossoms will battle the University of Illinois Springfield at 9:00 a.m., followed by a match with the tournament host, Texas Woman's University, at 4:30 p.m.
