MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello's Men's Basketball team (3-3) begins Great American Conference play this week with two games in Oklahoma. The Boll Weevils will compete in the first GAC game of the season on Tuesday, December 3, when they take on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University inside the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Oklahoma. The Weevils will follow up the Tuesday match with a Thursday, Dec. 5, evening game against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University inside the Noble Complex in Shawnee, Okla., with both games tipping off at 7:30 p.m.

"Conference play is always tough," said Head Coach Chad Tapp. " Especially playing 4 of the first 5 on the road, against good teams. It's an opportunity for us to get better with a new team.""

LAST MEETING
Southern Nazarene University - The Crimson Storm were the winners of the last meeting, taking down the Boll Weevils in Shawnee, Oklahoma in the GAC tournament. The Weevils fell in the quarterfinals losing by two points in overtime, 70-72.  Zane Nelson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello in the final game of the year and his Weevil career, posting 24 points in the quarterfinals. Nelson saw a 6-23 performance on field goals, hitting 2-7 shots from deep, and was perfect from the free throw line, going 10-10 on the game. He also grabbed one defensive rebound, had one steal, and dished out one assist. Isaac Jackson scored 22 total points posting an 8-16 showing on field goals and hitting his only three in the game. He also hit 5-6 shots from the line and saw three rounds, three assists, three steals, and a block on the day. Josh Denton was the final Weevil in double-digits posting a 12-point performance in the final game as a Boll Weevil. Denton hit 4-7 field goals, 1-7 threes, and 3-3 shots from the line with nine rebounds grabbed.

Oklahoma Baptist University - The Bison walked away with the win in the last meeting, taking down the Boll Weevils by a score of 61-66, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Zane Nelson and Isaac Jackson both led for UAM with 16 points on the night. Nelson went 5-15 on total field goals and 2-7 from beyond the arc while also contributing five assists in his 38 minutes of play. Jackson hit 6-16 field goals, 2-6 threes, and 2-4 free throws with four rebounds and an assist. They were followed closely by Timur Krupalija who contributed 11 points of his own going 4-6 on field goals and 3-4 from the line. He also contributed to three rebounds, one assist, one block, and three steals in his 23 minutes on the court.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southern Nazarene University - SNU leads over UAM with a record of 5-19 since the first match in January of 2013. The first match-up was also the first win for Weevils which produced their largest margin of victory on record, a 72-56 win in Monticello, Arkansas. At home, the Boll Weevils have a 4-7 record, while they are 1-10 on the road in Bethany, Oklahoma, with two losses in neutral locations. The green and white have averaged 60.21 points per game, with 1,445 total points through 24 games played.

Oklahoma Baptist University - Arkansas-Monticello holds victorious over the Bison with an overall record of 10-8 against OBU since the first meet-up in January of 2006. The first meeting occurred between the Bison and Boll Weevils when OBU was in the Sooner Athletic Conference as an NAIA member and UAM was in the Gulf South Conference, with the Boll Weevils winning 66-60. The first GAC meeting would be held 10 years later in 2016, again in Shawnee with an 80-72 win for the Boll Weevils. The biggest win in total points for UAM came in November of 2017, a 97-84 win, however, the largest margin of victory for the Weevils came in  January of 2017, with a 74-54 win in Monticello. At home, the Weevils have a 5-3 record, while they are 5-4 on the road. UAM is averaging 71.89 points per game, with 1,294 points through 18 games played.
