MONTICELLO, Ark. – Following their home opening win Saturday, the University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closed out their first conference series with a sweep over East Central University with a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Weevils came out with a 14-0 victory in game one, followed by a 4-3 win in game two against the Tigers.

For the first game the bats started of hot for the Weevils as they scored the first 7 runs in the first two innings. The first inning saw a big home run from
Chase Cripps over the right field wall, followed by an RBI single from
Kirk Woolf to bring home
Cade Cancilla.
Cancilla drove in both
Aidan Garrett and
Parker Dorrance in the second to increase the Monticello lead to 5-0.
Camden Tanner increased the total runs to seven on a 2 RBI double to center.
Charles Peacock continued to shut the Tigers down, keeping them scoreless as the Weevil offense continued to shine in the 5th.
Will Owens drove in two runs with a home run over the right field wall, followed by a couple RBI singles from
Roc Hawthorne and
Chaz Poppy and a sac fly from Cancilla.
Graham Gonzales and
Chase Cripps drove in the final two runs in the sixth on a pair of singles to push the Boll Weevil lead to 14-0.
The Weevils would take game one with a run-rule victory over the Tigers.

The final game of the series started off slow for the Weevils as they only led through the fourth inning 1-0 thanks to a RBI single from
Cade Cancilla.
The Tigers took the lead from the Monticello in the fifth after an error in the field making the game 2-1.
Kirk Woolf launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the 6th to re-claim a 4-2 lead over East Central.
Nelson Mercado came in and shut down the Tigers in the final inning after allowing only one hit and one run, resulting in a 4-3 win for UAM.

Charles Peacock started on the mound for UAM in game one, taking the win with 6.0 innings pitched, allowing only one hit. Peacock also struck out 8 batters in his appearance.
